Antonio Belaunzarán

Antonio after working for six years as an attorney dealing with Foreign Trade, joined OLIVARES in 1988 focussed in the practise of Trademark Law; In 1994 became partner at OLIVARES being the leader of such area of practise for more than 25 years. In 2025 Antonio re incorporates at OLIVARES as Of-Counsel. Within OLIVARES Antonio has leaded work teams dealing with relevant litigation cases related to food and beverages industry, publishing, apparel, among others. He represented certain clients of OLIVARES before the Mexican Congress during the discussion of one of the most important reforms to the Industrial Property Law namely the legislation for the effective protection of Famous and Well Known trademarks.

Among other cases of success Antonio achieved, after complex litigations, the reivindication for the genuine trademark owners of their famous trademarks which had been registered in bad faith by third parties. He participated actively within AMPPI in connection with the reform for introducing the long awaited Trademark Opposition System in the Industrial Property Law; likewise as leader of the Trademark Group of AMPPI he achieved the Trademark’s Office effective implementation of the protection of tri-dimensional trademarks.
